2022 Jeep Gladiator at Fred Frederick Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Laurel

While everyone sees the Jeep Wrangler as the go-to off-road vehicle, many have been clamoring for a vehicle that has the off-road capability of the Wrangler combined with the capability of a truck. In 2020, Jeep happily obliged this request with the invention of the Jeep Gladiator, and in 2022 the Gladiator might be one of the best trucks on the road. Under the hood, you have your choice of two engine options, one a gasoline-powered V6 and the other a diesel-powered V6, each of which provides you with a ton of power! Inside the cabin, the Gladiator comes with all the latest bells and whistles, including a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the base trim level. What engines can I get with the Gladiator?

With the 2022 Jeep Gladiator, you are treated to two fabulous engine options, both of which give you a significant amount of power! The base engine here is a 3.6-liter V6 capable of producing a stout 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque which pairs with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Both of these transmissions provide you with a smooth ride both on and off the road. Returning this year for the Gladiator is the spectacular diesel engine, a turbocharged and diesel-powered 3.0-liter V6 that kicks out 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque that will pair exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission. No matter which one of these amazing engines you go with, the Gladiator will come with four-wheel-drive and a five-foot bed. Towing and hauling are no problem for the Gladiator as you get a towing capacity of 7,650 pounds with a payload capacity of 1,700 pounds.

What features does the Gladiator come with?

You get five trims with the Gladiator, and each one of them is well-equipped with amazing features. The first trim is the excellent Sport trim which comes with cruise control, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an eight-speaker audio system, and a 5-inch central display with voice control capability. Additionally, there is a soft folding top, removable doors, and a fold-down front windshield. Next, we have the advanced Overland edition, which adds more creature comforts such as automatic headlights, power windows, heated power mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 7-inch central display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Those who love off-roading will want to check out the Rubicon trim. It has all the latest off-road equipment, such as a 4.10 rear axle ratio, 33-inch all-terrain tires, fenders with increased clearance, FOX shock absorbers, locking front and rear differentials, body-protecting rock rails, and skid plates. Meanwhile, the Mojave trim is made for more desert terrain, adding a reinforced frame, FOX internal bypass shock absorbers, and a Desert Rated badge.

What are some of the safety features for the Gladiator?

Jeep vehicles are known for their safety, and so the Gladiator is no different as the vast majority of its safety systems come standard. Standard is a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Path Detection that will monitor the areas around and behind the Gladiator so you can make safer lane changes and see all of the vehicles behind you. Another standard safety feature is the Adaptive Cruise Control system, allowing you to create a pre-set distance between the Gladiator and the vehicle ahead of it. In addition, there are also several parking assist features, with one being a Rear Parking Assist system that has sensors in the rear bumpers that detects a few objects and parallel park a touch easier.
