Does Dodge Make an All-Electric Muscle Car?

The phrases electric vehicle and muscle car have never been mentioned in the same sentence before - until now, that is. Dodge has unveiled the first-ever all-electric muscle car: the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona! The Charger Daytona comes in two output levels depending on whether you choose the R/T or Scat Pack trim level. Powering the world's first all-electric muscle car begins with the Charger Daytona's 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack. This new powerhouse provides more power-per-gram than most other electric vehicle batteries, resulting in more exciting performance. Dodge placed an electronic drive module (EDM) on each axle. These EDMs are 3-in-1 power units featuring the electric motor, inverter, and gearbox all in one compact unit. To provide the Charger Daytona with impressive traction from the drag strip to inclement weather on the main roads, the rear EDM is accompanied by an electronic limited-slip differential. Unique for the front axle is the wheel-end disconnect feature. This disengages the front EDM, essentially running the Charger in rear-wheel drive, to save battery power and increase range by only powering one EDM. What separates muscle cars from everyday cars is the power that they provide, and a car's power is measured in numbers. The Charger Daytona R/T offers a hefty 496 horsepower, while the more potent Scat Pack is tuned for Hellcat-like excitement with up to 670 horsepower, launching from 0-60 in just 3.3 seconds.

What is the 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK?

Dodge introduced the 2025 Charger SIXPACK alongside the 2024 Charger Daytona. The SIXPACK introduces Dodge's all-new Hurricane engine, which swaps out larger displacements in exchange for forced air induction. Dodge knew that, while replacing the larger, gas-guzzling V8 engines in search of better fuel efficiency, they still had to provide V8-like performance. Instead of using eight cylinders, the Charger SIXPACK uses six cylinders with two low-inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers providing more compressed oxygen to the cylinders. With more oxygen in the cylinders, more fuel can be brought in as well, resulting in more power being created. By swapping out the 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI V8 engines with a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, the Charger SIXPACK offers better fuel efficiency, fewer emissions, and more power. There are two variants of the new Hurricane engine. The first is standard output, which puts out an impressive 420 horsepower, taking the place of the 375-horsepower 5.7L HEMI V8. Meanwhile, the high-output variant lays down an exciting 550 horsepower, replacing the former Scat Pack's 475-horsepower 6.4L V8 engine. Both the Charger SIXPACK and Charger Daytona are set to be available in two-door and four-door models, depending on which power output you choose. For example, the SIXPACK standard output variants come with four doors, while the high-output models come with two.
